At Parent in the Present, my mission is to empower parents through providing compassionate, effective support. I aim to cultivate nurturing relationships to help you meet your and your children’s needs.

Many families find themselves stuck in a cycle of frustration, conflict, and ineffective strategies. You CAN actually enjoy your family again, and I am here to help you figure out how. At Parent in the Present, I prioritize nurturing each family’s emotional and developmental needs. My approach combines evidence-based techniques with a warm, supportive environment to foster growth.
Jessica is passionate about helping families thrive. As a mom herself, she has firsthand experience with how challenging modern parenting can be. Jessica has coached parents of children of all ages and run parenting groups for dozens of clients. She loves supporting parents as they strive to learn new approaches that are effective and consistent with their values. She believes there are no perfect parents and the best gift we can give our children is a willingness to grow and continue to develop ourselves. She has worked with families facing a diverse set of challenges, but all of her work focuses on strengthening parent-child relationships and supporting healthy communication within families. Parents Jessica has worked with describe her as a calm, validating source of effective support.

If you work with me, I will take the time to get to know you and your parenting struggles (we all have them!). Once I have a good understanding, I will provide education, brainstorm the best evidence-based strategies for your situation, and help you come up with a plan to implement at home. I adapt to my client—if reading is how you learn best, I’ll recommend books or articles; if you prefer experiential learning, we might do role-plays.
Ultimately, I am your partner in figuring out the approach that works best for you and your family. Please note that coaching is not therapy. Parenting can bring up a lot for us—if it seems that therapy would be more helpful for you than coaching at this time, I will recommend that you seek out a therapist.
I have experience supporting families with a wide range of issues including bedtime struggles, sibling squabbles, dinner time chaos, difficulties setting healthy boundaries, parent-child communication challenges and conflicts, and more. I have experience working with families with children from birth to adulthood. Whether you are looking for support parenting a baby, a grade schooler, or a teenager, reach out!
Parent coaching is a commitment—to develop greater self-awareness, learn new approaches, and try different strategies. Coaching sessions last 50-60 minutes and cost $225 per session. If you purchase a 6-session bundle, I offer 10% off.
I have experience working with a variety of families facing a diverse set of challenges. You are welcome to schedule a 15 minute free call to see if my approach fits what you’re looking for.
Jessica has a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is also a recipient of a grant from the Vermont Trauma, Resiliency, and Equity Education Initiative providing training for trauma-informed practice. In graduate school Jessica received the Distinction in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Award. She completed her practicum at the University of Vermont where she worked with college and graduate students, and completed her clinical internship at a pediatrician’s office where she worked with children, adolescents, and parents.
In addition to her work as a psychotherapist, Jessica has experience coaching parents and running parenting groups. She has found that parenting support and parent coaching are some of the most effective ways to help children, which research also demonstrates. Having seen firsthand what a difference parent coaching can make, she is committed to offering this service to families.
